Sutton Transport was founded on November 19th, 1979 by Frank and Deb Sutton as a cartage agent for what was then Burlington Northern Air Freight. Upon deregulation of the trucking industry the Suttons obtained their own operating authority and began hauling their own freight alongside the air freight. Sutton's footprint soon started to grow:

  • 1981 – Moved to larger facility from Schofield, WI to Weston, WI
  • 1988 – Madison terminal begins operations
  • 1991 – Purchased and moved into new facility in Weston
  • 1993 – Fox Valley terminal begins operations in Neenah, WI
  • 1998 – Milwaukee terminal begins operations
  • 2000 – Sutton Transport exits air freight business in order to concentrate on LTL
  • 2006 – Moved Milwaukee terminal to its present location due to rapid growth in that market
  • 2012 – Weston terminal is tripled in size
  • 2013 – Chicago terminal is opened in Franklin Park, IL
  • 2014 – Trucking loses a legend with the death of Frank Sutton; the business continues to be operated by his family
  • 2015 - Purchased 40 door terminal and moved valley operations to Oshkosh, WI and added 3600 sq ft to Weston, WI terminal

Today Sutton Transport operates over 300 pieces of equipment across five terminals and employs over 250 people. Despite all of the changes since the beginning one thing has remained constant: Sutton Transport continues to provide superior service with a personal touch.
