Trucker Jobs in Arkansas

Jobs 1 to 13 of 2,895

Seeing its economy greatly diversity following the Post-War period, Arkansas has become a force to be reckoned with in the caste of major states in the country. Currently, Arkansas still sees a great deal of its culture and roots hearkening back to the folk days of the Ozarks, with several festivals and cultural events commemorating the state’s history. Arkansas became a landmark in the 1950’s when many students of all backgrounds came into the state’s schools following a welcomed desegregation in the country. Arkansas also once was home to educational philosopher William Fulbright as well as country music legends Glen Campbell and Johnny Cash, marking the state as a highly culturally conscious location in America.

Truck Driving Jobs in Arkansas

Arkansas Forests

Recently Arkansas has been a difficult place to find truck driving jobs, but things are definitely changing for the better and the U.S. Department of Labor Statistics predicts there will be at least 700 more trucking positions available through 2013.

But that isn't the only thing that's changed. If you are serious about finding a truck- driving job in Arkansas or any other state, it's become almost imperative to do it on the internet. Many of the trucking industry's top employers don't even process applications on paper anymore and almost all of them have adapted their hiring process to the efficiency and immediacy of everything on-line.

TruckDrivingJobs.com is specifically geared to help you with your on-line job search and find the best truck driving job for you. We are the hub and information source for everything related to truck driver jobs in the US, with the most recent job postings from hiring companies.

Arkansas is a big state and the trucking jobs are spread everywhere, so your first step is determining which city you want to be based out of and what kind of truck driving job best suits you? Do you have a family that requires you to stay in the area?  How much money do you want to make and how well do you qualify? How much training are you willing to do to increase your earning and hiring potential?

Once you determine your ideal targets for truck driving positions, you then must assess whether or not you meet the base qualifications. Arkansas, like most states requires anyone applying for their commercial driver's license (CDL) to be at least 18 years old and have a Class D license and a good driving record. After that, you must determine which class CDL you wish to obtain based on the type of trucker jobs you are applying for:

  • Class A: Any combination of vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating (GWVR) of 26,001 or more pounds, provided the GVWR of the vehicle(s) being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.

  • Class B: Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing a vehicle not in excess of 10,000 pounds GVWR.

  • Class C: Any single vehicle, or combination of vehicles, that does not meet the definition of Class A or Class B, but is either designed to transport 16 or more passengers, including the driver, or is placarded for hazardous materials.

To further qualify yourself to drive certain type of vehicles and increase your earning potential, there are five different types of endorsements you can apply for and require you to pass a series of both written and driving tests for each one. Arkansas recently implemented a job placement program, recruiting new drivers and putting them through training programs then helping them find trucking jobs immediately upon completion.

TruckDrivingJobs.com can help you access information for these job placement programs or lead you right to the hiring employers, either way we will get you on track to your truck driving career in Arkansas.
