Oklahoma

Even before the oil boom, it was estimated that trucks were transporting 86.2 percent of Oklahoma's total manufactured tonnage, an amount that equals 318,806 tons per day. In addition to the transport of goods in and out of the state, over 75 percent of Oklahoma's communities depend exclusively on trucks for the essentials of their daily lives. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported in 2008 there were over 10,345 trucking companies providing 82,853 jobs or one of 15 jobs in the state and since then that number dramatically increased. While the 2008 annual salary for trucking industry was $43,097 that number has only increased with companies trying to retain drivers with the current demand.

Dan Case, executive director of the Oklahoma Trucking Association stresses just how overwhelmed today’s trucking industry really is. “I know one oilfield company who is looking for over 500 drivers right now. In addition to these companies trying to out do each other with competitive salaries and benefits, the Oklahoma trucking industry has responded to the shortage of qualified drivers with advanced training initiatives. Home to the state’s largest truck driving school, Oklahoma’s CareerTech system has partnered with Central Technology Center to offer advanced satellite training across the state. This program initiative not only reaches new drivers all over Oklahoma, it specifies training in areas where drivers are most in demand and the type of training most needed.

Currently Oklahoma's rapidly growing oil industry has created the largest demand for drivers in the western and northwest part of the state, but a number of other areas such as wind farm, petroleum, construction wholesale and service companies are needing truck drivers everywhere else as well. In a short 23 day training program, people are graduating with a 98 percent job placement rate and with truck driving positions starting at $40, 000 per year. The earning potential has skyrocketed to between $50,000 and 90, 000 in the oil and gas industries.

It was last reported there were over 1,600 truck driver openings in northwest Oklahoma and certainly the state's available truck driver positions does not stop there. Whether you are already there or looking from out of state, experienced or not, Oklahoma has plenty of truck driver jobs for you to choose from and TruckDrivingJobs.com is here to help you find them. From our extensive job list giving you access to jobs everywhere, to our on-line applications immediately linking you to the employers ready to hire you, TruckDrivingJobs.com will get your trucking career started in Oklahoma.
