Trucker Jobs in Rhode Island

Jobs 1 to 13 of 397

The smallest state in the union, Rhode Island is also known as the “Ocean State” with nearly 14% of the state mileage of the state comprised of bays and inlets. Rhode Island’s unique geographical position in America has made it a popular and attuned destination for commercial transportation by sea. Unlike other states, Rhode Island sees an abundance of limited-access highways, though the Interstate-95 sees access from Rhode Island to other nearby states on the East Coast. Rhode Island was historically known as a powerhouse for the textile trade during the 18th and 19th centuries, and though the industry has declined, it is still one of the area’s large financial exports.

Rhode Island: Remote Beauty and Ripe Opportunity for truck drivers

It maybe be the smallest state, taking just 45 minutes to drive from one end to the other, but Rhode Island offers more than remote appeal, shorelines of sandy beaches and green parks. It is rich in colonial history with a wealthy of historic attractions but modern and vibrant densely populated cities make it a highly industrialized center ripe with opportunity as well, enough opportunities for truck drivers to call it more of a growing demand.

Rhode Island

Rhode Island's capital city, Providence, drives the state's tourism industry that generates over a billion dollars revenue every year in itself. From its Venetian style cityscape to its attractive harbor and top notch all seasons resorts, visitors fill the hotels and restaurants, driving the economy all year round. But Rhode Island is also a major center for jewelry manufacturing with electronics, metal, plastic products, and boat and ship construction being other important industries as well. Providence is also a wholesale distribution center for New England and its traditional manufacturing economy has diversified into services, wholesale and retail trade, and finance as well. With two fishing ports for commercial fishing and naval facilities and rural areas for farming that includes grapes for local wineries, turf grass and nursery stock, Rhode Island is multi-industry force of its own.

Today Rhode Island's economy is driving stronger than ever with this year reporting a 46.9 percent increase in exports alone, reaching the state's record high of $265.5 million last February. Not only does this thriving export industry require continuous mass transportation of many goods, this island of many populated communities exclusively depends on trucks for the essentials of everyday life. With the trucking industry transporting 82 percent of Rhode Island's total tonnage and the amount of tonnage continuing to grow, the state needs more trucks and more drivers to keep up. In 2011 the trucking industry already provided 16,670 jobs with an average annual salary of $46,041.

Now as we are heading into 2013, Rhode Island has more jobs available and many companies are offering even higher salaries for people to fill them. Being such a tiny island and the smallest state, you may find it hard to believe just how many truck driving opportunities are there and lucrative enough to be earning far above the U.S. national average. But the recent reports show, Rhode Island's economy is certainly there and growing. The transportation industry drives it all and they need you to keep it all running.
