Trucker Jobs in South Dakota

Jobs 1 to 13 of 186

Though once a destination of supposed riches and site of interest for those seeking gold, South Dakota is still a popular tourism spot in the Northern U.S. due to Mount Rushmore. The state is still heavily characterized by a rural culture – once the site of Wounded Knee – and sees a great deal of exports in the field of agriculture. Still, Ellsworth Air Force Base is one of the largest employers within the southern Dakota, and ethanol production has become a staple of South Dakota exports. For drivers, the I-29 corridor that runs through the Eastern part of the state services to more industrialized and profitable areas of South Dakota towns and industries.

South Dakota: The Badland of Opportunity For truck drivers

From its golden prairie flatlands, to its winding rivers to its black hills and badlands in between, if you want a home where the buffalo literally roam and a good truck driving job today, then South Dakota is the ideal place to be.

South Dakota

Not only is South Dakota one of states to remerge from the US recession of recent years, its has become one of the fastest growing states in the nation and achieving energy independence at the same time. The development of its biofuel fleets has been transforming the state into a natural energy producer and exporter. South Dakota's economy has been growing fast and steady, perhaps in the shadow of its sister, North Dakota's well known recent oil boom. But South Dakota biofuels business is booming and its driving the entire economy full speed ahead, which means more and more truck drivers are needed to keep it all running.

South Dakota's economy has many other industries relying on the transportation of goods as well. Livestock is the state's most important agriculture product with beef cattle comprising 34 percent and hogs, lambs and sheep making it a wool producing state also. Chicken, geese and turkey are also raised in South Dakota and milk is another very important source of income. Its leading manufactured products are computers, processed foods, machinery, transportation equipment and fabricated metals. South Dakota is also rich in mining products such as granite, clays, limestone sand and gravel.

An abundance of goods to be transported daily and trucks carrying the majority of the load, trucking is the backbone of South Dakota's economy. Not only is the trucking industry vital to the transportation of exported goods, the majority of communities in South Dakota depend on trucks for the products essential to their everyday lives. As the economy grows, so does the amount of products and size of communities, requiring more trucks and more truck drivers. In 2011, the trucking industry provided 20,910 jobs or one out of 16 jobs in South Dakota with an average annual salary of $41,746, above the state's cost of living and well above the nation's average annual salary. Not only does it offer the most promising job market, South Dakota promises truck drivers to live well.

With more and more truck driving opportunities coming available and not a very large population to fill South Dakota's vast land, the jobs are plentiful for anyone applying from both in and out of state. While the cities with the most truck driver jobs are Sioux Falls, Rapid City and Aberdeen, South Dakota has many different types of truck driving positions available for many different type of companies operating through out the state. TruckDrivingJobs.com not only gives you the most up-to-date list of the best trucker jobs across South Dakota, we take the next most important step with our on-line application process that immediately gets your foot in the employers door, right from your own home. Sit back, but don't get too relaxed because you will be truck driving in South Dakota in no time.
