Trucker Jobs in West Virginia

The only state considered entirely with the Appalachian Regional Commission, many refer to West Virginia when they are speaking about “Appalachia” at large. Perhaps a somewhat unlikely hub for green energy, many scientists speculate that the state’s wind turbines could potentially be one of the leading outposts of alternative energy if developed properly. Still, West Virginia often falls back on more traditional sources of energy, with coal among chief economic pursuits in the state. Rail lines in West Virginia have been edged out by the state’s extensive system of highways, with over 37,000 miles of public roads within the state boundaries. Wheeling, WV sees the country’s oldest suspension bridge constructed in 1849.

West Virginia: Where Beauty and truck driving Meet

West Virginia's natural beauty is spectacular enough to account for its tourism industry alone, but the excellent hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, and skiing also blessing the state, are added bonuses for visitors all year round, or perhaps truck drivers who might want to make it their home

West Virginia

Bordered by Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, Kentucky and with Ohio across the Ohio River, West Virginia is a prime crossroads of the east coast, south and Midwest. With the ideal locale for transporting products to major US hubs, West Virginia is the ideal state for rich diversity providing its economy too. Its state parks, forests and mineral springs make it a treasure trove for its residents and visitors all year round, but its coal mining industry is its back bone, being the second highest coal producer in the US. West Virginia also leads the country in steel, glass aluminum, and chemical manufacturing and its agricultural industry remains strong with broilers, cattle and calves, chicken eggs, dairy products, and turkeys.

West Virginia, like the other US states rebounding from the major recession of recent years and with an abundance of products to be transported, is also realizing, like the other states, its growing demand for more truck drivers to keep its economy driving. In addition to trucks being vital transportation of exports, over 84 percent of West Virginia communities depend exclusively on trucks simply for their everyday essentials. In 2012, there were over 5,590 trucking companies located in West Virginia and they provided one out of 16 jobs in the state. Now these companies have plenty more truck driver jobs to provide and it's more difficult finding people to fill them. A bad predicament for the economy and trucking companies perhaps, but its also been somewhat of a blessing for truck drivers. Not only has the driver shortage increased more awareness and appreciation for truck drivers in the overall economy, but its forced companies to increase wages and improve the more difficult aspects of the job.

While unemployment is still a hard reality for many Americans, truck drivers are suddenly sitting in the best seat of all and can pretty much pick and choose from plenty of well paying jobs almost anywhere in the US. West Virginia is certainly an ideal place to live and a hot spot for all types of trucker jobs. The cities with the most trucking jobs include: Charleston, Huntington, and Parkersburg, but you don't even have to be in the state to find the best of them. TruckDrivingJobs.com is today's on-line approach for success in your job search and it starts with our up-to-date job board giving you access to all the best driving jobs in Virginia. Once you select the most ideal jobs specifically for you, TruckDrivingJobs.com takes you another important step further with our on-line application process that immediately gets your foot in the hiring employer's door.
